Chaos Photo Mosaic

The chaos mosaic picture is a new type of mosaic image that, until now, can only be created with Foto-Mosaik-Edda. The tiles are not arranged side by side and one below another like in conventional mosaic pictures, but are mixed together randomly—like a spread-out pile of photos.

The aspect ratio (landscape, portrait, square, ...) of the original database tiles is preserved. This means tiles with different image formats appear together in the same mosaic picture. The size of the tiles and their rotation angle are determined randomly by the program. The random range can be adjusted.
The exact number of tiles can only be determined during the mosaic calculation, because Foto-Mosaik-Edda keeps adding tiles with random sizes and rotations until every part of the mosaic picture is covered.

A border and a transparent drop shadow, which can be drawn automatically around the mosaic tiles, further enhance the effect of a scattered pile of photos.
